HSM3 Review
The first HSM 3 previews were released in the Summer of 2008
The latest installment of Disney’s High School Musical (HSM) franchise was released in theater’s on Oct. 24.
High School Musical 3: Senior Year was the first of the High School Musical movies to be released for the big screen. The first two HSM movies were played only on Disney Channel.
Troy, Gabriella and all your favorite Wildcats are back in HSM3: Senior Year. HSM3 picks up in the spring of their senior year at East High. The basketball team once again is in the “big game” and it is time for the spring musical, prom and graduation.
Zac Efron, who plays the basketball and musical theatre star Troy Bolton, and Vanessa Hudgens, who plays the brainy and talented Gabriella Montez, reprise their onscreen romance for High School Musical 3.
What high school movie would be complete without its share of teen angst? In HSM3 the angst takes the form of Sharpay, Ryan and Kelsey battling it out for Julliard scholarships and Gabriella and Troy breaking up again because they will not be at the same college.

In true Disney form it all works out in the end. And in true HSM form it all works out with a song.
Upbeat songs like, The Boys Are Back and High School Musical drive the plot along with a few power ballads like Can I Have This Dance (video featured below).
The High School Musical series has become a huge hit among girls of all ages. It has defined a generation the way Grease did.
As one 7 year-old movie goer put it, this was the best movie EVER!
The overall theme of the High School Musical series is acceptance and overcoming the peer pressure to do what everyone else expects. This installment was no different.
While the plot of all of the HSM movies may seem derived and cutesy, admiration exists toward Disney for having the guts to create compelling high school age characters that do more than worry about drugs and who
is sleeping with who. They have created teenagers that respect their parents, care about school and set good examples.
The High School Musical movies represent the best of Disney and give parents the hope that their kids can stay kids for a little while longer.
The High School Musical series is brought to the viewers by Director and Choreographer Kenny Ortega, who also directed Dirty Dancing and Newsies.
High School Musical and High School Musical 2 are available on DVD at most retail locations. High School Musical 3 is expected to be released on DVD in March.
